Review: A New Science of the Paranormal, The Promise of Physical Research by Lawrence LeShan, Ph. D.

So have you ever had someone tell you you’re crazy and that there’s zero proof of the paranormal? Especially those smarty-pants types who unless it slaps them in the face, it doesn’t exist (that’s one unexciting world to live in)? Well if you’re reading this I’m assuming you probably know some of these clowns. You know what, it is a bit harsh, but it’s time to turn the tables on these folks and expose them to what’s really going on in our mysterious world, and make them aware that there’s still some work to be done on the unknown and unexplained. Actually, the heck with these people, I want to know what’s really going on.

The Water Sprit

In January, 1734, the ship Elizabeth, Captain Walker, lay at anchor in the harbour of Cadiz, and had on board Mr. Burnel, a surgeon, and a native of Ireknd, who was returning to his native country. Being a very intelligent man, and a most entertaining companion, the Captain conceived a particular friendship for him. One day the conversation turned on apparitions. Burnet seemed to be a firm believer in ghosts; at least he related a great number of extraordinary stories, which might be considered to argue such a belief. Walker, on the contrary, satisfied in his own mind of the impossibility of supernatural appearances, endeavoured to convince his friend of the absurdity and defective evidence of those stories; and declared that nothing on earth could induce him to adopt other notions at the expense of his reason, and convert him to the faith in the visible appearance of the spirits of deceased persons.

Interview: Gabbing it up with Gavin Cromwell in Salem Common

When I lost track of Brody and Ronin’s whereabouts after a panel discussion at GhoStock ‘09, my inner GPS led me upstairs to the bar at the Hawthorne Hotel, which was the oh-so-perfect setting for the paranormal gathering. I was not alone long, thanks to world-renowned psychic and Ghostock panelist Gavin Cromwell.

Paranormal SPY does GhoStock 7 – ((teaser))

Last weekend, myself and the rest of the Paranormal SPY crew (Angelique Avalon and Ronin Fuse) took a little field trip down to land of the witches, historical Salem, Massachusetts where we made a visit to GhoStock 7, 2009. This was the first paranormal convention any of us had ever been to. And I gotta tell ya, it was a fantastic experience. I’ve never met a friendlier, more accessible group then I did at GhoStock. Patrick Burns, founder and organizer of GhoStock, as well as star of TRU TV’s “Haunting Evidence” was a huge help and allowed us to stick our cameras wherever we wanted to.

Review: The Uninvited: The True Story of the Union Screaming House by Steven A. LaChance

So have ya heard of the Union screaming house? Well I hadn’t and I can’t wait to be able to un-remember it. This has to be one of the most horrifying, f’ed up hauntings I’ve read about since probably the first time I read the Amityville Horror. As a matter of fact, I  read most of this book during the day with plenty of glorious sunlight, and it still gave me chills. So there’s your warning.

Update: Back From GhoStock 7

Well after a couple of large ice coffees and some serious procrastination I’ve put on my pants and made it to the computer, finally. Just wanted to let everyone know that we’ve returned  safe and sound from Salem, Massachusetts, where Angelique Avalon, Ronin Fuse and myself attended Ghostock 7.

The Deserter’s Ghost

"I thrust the supposed culprit violently against the door, which stood ajar, so as to shut it."

Experience seems to justify the notion formerly more prevalent than at present, that one who has died a violent death is more likely to return to terrify the living than those who have been gathered in peace to their fathers. The experience of the writer of the following narrative once confirmed this notion in a manner equally convincing and frightful. It is calculated to lower the tone of the obstinate skeptic, who denies the possibility of the re-appearance of deceased persons, and especially such as have been prematurely cut off. It may fare with them as it did with him. Their evil genius, to punish them for their unbelief, may lie in ambush for them, and expose their credulity, were it only for a short time. The story of his instructive adventure is as follows:
