Looking for E.T. (one PC at a time)

SETI

Scanning space

An old personal computer inside the Perkins Observatory in Delaware County is hard at work searching for aliens.

Observatory Director Tom Burns can’t remember when the donated PC joined the worldwide network of 235,000 computers analyzing radio waves for a signal from deep space.

“Since the beginning, I think,” he said.

That would be impressive. The SETI@home (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intelligence) program just celebrated its 10th anniversary.

Michael Rugg (Dan Coyro/Sentinel)

Felton — The legendary Bigfoot is not a legend after all, and has been seen in remote parts of Santa Cruz County, according to the sponsors of a June 7 discussion and exhibit on the reality of Bigfoot.

The event will be held at the Bigfoot Discovery Museum located on Highway 9 in Felton.

Museum curator Michael Rugg said not only is Bigfoot real, but he himself once saw the primate with his own eyes.

Pseudo-Science of Anti-Ufology

Stanton Friedman

Stanton Friedman

This is a fantastic article by a nuclear physicist and ufologist, Stanton Friedman, on the UFO debunkers.

ABSTRACT
There have been a number of remarks by people calling themselves scientists attacking the notion that any flying saucers are of alien origin. The arguments aren’t scientific, but rather represent research by proclamation rather than investigation. We can learn a lot about how to deal with these attacks by focusing on the claims that are made and what is irrational or illogical or just plain wrong about them. This is worth doing because often the claims are left unchallenged and college level students in science and journalism and the general public are taught baloney as if it were truth.

Haunted by past lives? Academics wrestle with treating the ‘reincarnated’

How long have we been around?

How long have we been around?

A teenage boy in Newfoundland is certain he has been here before.

On his first trip to his parents’ hometown in India, the youth became consumed by vivid memories of a past life, started viewing his mother and father as “alien” and insisted he belonged with another family, his doctor recounts in a recently published medical journal article.

Skeptoid’s Brian Dunning Skeptical of Global Consciousness Science

Debate between skeptic and believer highlights differences in how controversial science is understood and accepted

Global Consciousness

Global Consciousness

Del Mar, CA, May 30, 2009 –(PR.com)– The idea of “global mind” doesn’t sit right with skeptic, and host of the popular Skeptiod Podcast, Brain Dunning. Dunning’s not just uncomfortable with the idea of an interconnected planet, but with the science used to investigate such claims. He labels it, “fringe science”, and, “pseudoscience”. Not so for global consciousness believer, and Skeptiko host, Alex Tsakiris. Tsakiris believes the science behind global consciousness is solid, and the ten years of accumulated data, impressive.

Here’s a creepy one for ya.

Three teenage girls from a Tolima town saw a ghost standing behind them in a photo taken after having played improvised satanic rituals, local media reported Wednesday.

The incident happened last week in the town of Purificacion when the girls, between 15 and 17 years old, decided to dress up as witches and to try satanic rituals and spells – just for fun.

One of the teenagers asked her younger brother to take a photo of the girls to remember the evening. They had the shock of their lives when they discovered the clear image of a man standing behind them.

Seems like something is going on in the UK with these weird cube UFOs. I wonder if it’s going to be another Chinese lantern incident/hoax.

Sharon Carlin, her husband, two children and two other couples with children were on a Bank Holiday trip in North Wales.

The six adults and seven children stayed at the Carrog Station Campsite, and on their last night, when all the children were asleep, they saw an unusual object in the sky.

The friends were gathered around their campfire when Sharon said she noticed something.

“I saw orange flames coming towards us and I had no idea what it could be,” said Sharon.

ELIZABETH–Seth Laderman won’t say whether the ghost of Hannah Caldwell is finally ready for her close up.

But he is predicting fans of Ghost Hunters, the popular cable television series on the Sci-Fi channel, will not be disappointed when they tune in this summer to see what the crew found when they visited the Union County Courthouse. “They can expect a pretty cool investigation,” said Laderman, a co-producer of the Sci-Fi channel’s Ghost Hunters.

Actor stunned by ‘cube UFO’ over Muswell Hill

Sketch of the object

Sketch of the object

Now here’s something you don’t see everyday, even in the wild world of unexplained phenomenon, a cube-like UFO. Almost looks like something you would see in a Von Daniken book. Sure doesn’t look like it would be too aerodynamic.

MUSWELL Hill’s growing reputation as “Roswell Hill” for its mysterious night-sky activity has taken another alien turn with the latest UFO sighting.

Actor Sam Lathem was so spooked by the appearance of a large cube-shaped “ship” with orange lights erratically making its way across the sky he sketched an image of the floating object.

Help Save the UFO Hunters

UFO Hunters

The UFO Hunters are in danger of disappearing from the History Channel. The History Channel has yet to decide whether they are going to bring Bill Birnes, Kevin Cook, and Pat Uskert back for a fourth season.  It’s really too bad because this season was fantastic with episodes featuring Underground Alien Bases at Dulce, UFO Surveillance, and Underwater Area 51. But not all is lost yet. You can shoot over to the UFO Hunters Season Four Petition and show your support. Sign it here.
