Old Hill Burying Ground: The Face of Death

For those of you not in top physical condition, the  Old Hill Burying Ground in Newburyport, Massachusetts might not be the place for you. Unless of course, you don’t mind sweating all over yourself, like myself and Paranormal SPY colleague Ronin did the other day. But you know what, it was well worth it.

Welcome to the Gates of Hell: Maudslay State Park

hell_art

Living on the north shore of Massachusetts gives you access to a ton of alleged paranormal sites and one of my all-time favorites would have to be Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. This place for some reason has drawn me back year after year and it continues to fascinate me. It’s one of those places that’s completely beautiful but at the same time creepy as hell.

UPDATE: Paranormal Spy

wereback_art1

Hello everyone. We just wanted to give you all an update and let you know we’ve not fallen down a rabbit hole or been shut down by the Men in Black, we’ve just been really busy on a couple of projects that will only improve Paranormal Spy. Ronin has been slaving away into the wee hours of the night experimenting with new technology, as well as some new features on the site, while Brody has been researching alleged haunted locations and cranking through books for future reviews. So again we’re still here and will continue to bring you everything paranormal.

Best,
Paranormal Spy Team

Don’t Fouke with the Fouke Monster!

fouke_art

I just came across the comment that Sir “Mister Wildlife” David Attenborough made on some British talk show the other night stating that, “I’m baffled by the Abominable Snowman – very convincing footprints have been found at 19,000ft.” This immediately brought back memories of the old In Search Of Episodes where I saw the famed Patterson Bigfoot film for the first time. Which got me thinking that we really haven’t gone down the crypto path here at Paranormal SPY. So I went in search of something new today and boy did I come up big. And no, it’s not some semi-frozen refrigerator Bigfoot, it’s the Fouke Monster.

Ghost Hunters by Ed & Lorraine Warren with Robert David Chase

gh_review_v2

Not one to usually pull over for a yard sale, I spotted a sign on a stack of boxes and books reading, “cheap books,” and immediately swerved over for a closer look. After only a few seconds of digging I came across the hidden gem, Ghost Hunters: True Stories from the World’s Most Famous Demonologists (notice I give you the full title here, I couldn’t fit it in my blog title, sorry). I’d heard of this book being a fan of the Warrens but I think it’s been out of print for a while because I couldn’t ever find it, even Amazon. But for a quick five bucks now I owned my own hardcover copy. Yes, that’s right, hardcover folks!

Review: Splinter

Splinter

It was an okay movie, and I did enjoy a couple of scenes. But would I watch it again? NO!

I had high expectations for Splinter, especially since it was an independent horror film, but I’m not going to use that as an excuse to give this film any credit. Camera work was good and steady and casting was okay. But in the end it was just another, “seen that, done that horror flick”.

Paranormal Activity the Movie [Evidence of a Haunting]

paranormal_activity_the_movie

I’ve been waiting for over a year now for this low-budget indie movie to move out of the festival circuit and get some commercial screen time or at least be released to video. But when it comes to getting a status update, we’re still in the dark. And now that Dreamworks has acquired the project and is putting big bucks behind a remake I feel like the project is deteriorating like a post-Halloween pumpkin. My money says Spielberg will be screwing up the flick with sappy special effects.

Review: Darkness On the Edge of Town Paranormal Radio

darkness_on_the_edge_radio

For those of you who want more than the tv, books and websites check out “Darkness On the Edge of Town” Paranormal Radio. These guys are the nuts. I’ve listened to many paranormal radio shows over the years and found that quality tends to be lacking which sometimes makes listening pretty rough. But host, David Schrader and co-host Tim Dennis really have something special going. They’ve had a great mix of guests, including Lorraine Warren of Amityville fame, all the way over to ufologist Stanton Friedman.
