While attending GhoStock 7 on April 18th, 2009, in historical Salem, Massachusetts, Angelique Avalon got a little ghostly chitchat time with author and paranormal investigator Marley Gibson. Marley dishes on her writing process, paranormal investigations, as well as the release of her upcoming Ghost Huntress series from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt’s Graphia Books. The first book, The Awakening will be available in May 2009.

When I lost track of Brody and Ronin’s whereabouts after a panel discussion at GhoStock ’09, my inner GPS led me upstairs to the bar at the Hawthorne Hotel, which was the oh-so-perfect setting for the paranormal gathering. I was not alone long, thanks to world-renowned psychic and Ghostock panelist Gavin Cromwell.

Drawing on social not psychic skills, Gavin was a delightful gentleman and bar mate (I had Chardonnay; he had a Coke.) Fun, vivacious, and quite spirited, Gavin quickly accepted our invitation to chat on camera. While toastier in the bar on this cool April afternoon, the lighting was better in the Salem Common. 

Speaking of lighting .. seems we’ll be needing night vision equipment because Gavin and crew invited the Paranormalspy trio on an upcoming investigation.

Last weekend, myself and the rest of the Paranormal SPY crew (Angelique Avalon and Ronin Fuse) took a little field trip down to land of the witches, historical Salem, Massachusetts where we made a visit to GhoStock 7, 2009. This was the first paranormal convention any of us had ever been to. And I gotta tell ya, it was a fantastic experience. I’ve never met a friendlier, more accessible group then I did at GhoStock. Patrick Burns, founder and organizer of GhoStock, as well as star of TRU TV’s “Haunting Evidence” was a huge help and allowed us to stick our cameras wherever we wanted to.

Unfortunately we missed out on the investigations the night before. But we did hear from many of the guests that it was a great experience to actually ghost hunt with some of the head honchos of the paranormal field like Bob Hunnicutt (founder of the Georgia Ghost Society), psychic Gavin Cromwell (host of “Absolute Psychic” Star of “Cromwells Quest”) and Keith Age (SciFi channels “Spooked”, founder and director of Louisville Ghost Hunters Society). The best part of the convention was the lectures and believe it or not, the size of the room they were held in. What could be better than sitting in a high school classroom-sized room listening to John Zaffis discuss the dangers of the demonic? After listening to him though, I began having second thoughts about stepping into a haunted house. Those demons seem a bit shady. But I highly recommend checking out GhoStock the next time around. And in the meantime, just to hold you over until next year, we’ll be posting interviews and highlights of some of the lectures. Not bad huh?

Well after a couple of large ice coffees and some serious procrastination I’ve put on my pants and made it to the computer, finally. Just wanted to let everyone know that we’ve returned  safe and sound from Salem, Massachusetts, where Angelique Avalon, Ronin Fuse and myself attended Ghostock 7.

We chased down and harassed a ton of paranormal specialists for most of the day yesterday, which is why I think my back is giving me the finger. The three Guinness I ate for a quick snack probably didn’t help either. But we did get some great stuff. We got some interviews with Dave Schrader, host of Darkness Radio, Marley Gibson, author and paranormal investigator and Gavin Cromwell, host of “Absolute Psychic” and star of “Cromwells Quest.” Plus, we’ll have clips from the actual lectures given by Keith Age, founder and director of Louisville Ghost Hunters Society, Patrick Burns from Court TV and Tru TV’s “Haunting Evidence,” also the founder and organizer of “GhoStock, and finally keynote speaker, noted authority on demonic possessions and malevolent hauntings, John Zaffis. So be on the look out, we’ll be posting this week. Alright, I’m getting back in my jammies. Goodnight.

It’s getting close to convention time and we wanted to give everyone the heads up. This April, Salem, Massachusetts will be hosting GhoStock 2009, through the 16 to the 19th. The event will be hosted by Patrick Burns of TruTV’s Haunting Evidence.
