Welcome to the Gates of Hell: Maudslay State Park

hell_art

Living on the north shore of Massachusetts gives you access to a ton of alleged paranormal sites and one of my all-time favorites would have to be Maudslay State Park in Newburyport. This place for some reason has drawn me back year after year and it continues to fascinate me. It’s one of those places that’s completely beautiful but at the same time creepy as hell.

EMMA, don’t leave

emma-dont-leave2Sounds like the Slippery Rock theater’s administration has changed there mind. Now they want Emma to feel comfy so she’ll continue her haunting ways. I guess they like the publicity they’re receiving from the media and the ghost hunter community.

Professor Dr. David Skeele said that while watching television in his office he turned the volume down, only to turn his back and hear the volume get turned back up. TV ghosts are a terrifying subject to me, especially after an experience I had when I was 15 years old. I’ll have to write about that soon but back to this professor. Even after this creepy incident Dr. Skeele later expressed that he didn’t necessarily want Emma to leave at all. Makes you kind of wonder what he and Emma were watching that late into the evening. Hmmmm?

Ghost Hunters by Ed & Lorraine Warren with Robert David Chase

gh_review_v2

Not one to usually pull over for a yard sale, I spotted a sign on a stack of boxes and books reading, “cheap books,” and immediately swerved over for a closer look. After only a few seconds of digging I came across the hidden gem, Ghost Hunters: True Stories from the World’s Most Famous Demonologists (notice I give you the full title here, I couldn’t fit it in my blog title, sorry). I’d heard of this book being a fan of the Warrens but I think it’s been out of print for a while because I couldn’t ever find it, even Amazon. But for a quick five bucks now I owned my own hardcover copy. Yes, that’s right, hardcover folks!

While checking our Twitter account I saw that one of our Twitter friends had posted a link about a ghost hunting story:

The Haunting in Connecticut

The Haunting in ConnecticutI had totally forgotten about the new Haunting in Connecticut movie until I came across the latest poster. This movie is based on the true events of the Snedeker family who moved into an old funeral home in Southington, Connecticut. That alone should tell you where this is going, a not so cheery place.

It got so bad that The Warrens of the now infamous Amityville case were called in to investigate. John Zaffis, a nephew of the Warrens who was also part of the team witnessed an apparition appear with the noise of a thousand flapping wings and a stink so bad he could hardly breathe. This is definitely “soil your grunts” type of stuff.

Hollywood Ghost Cheese: And it stinks!

Hollywood Ghost Cheese: And it stinks!

Well Hollywood has done it again, they’ve taken something really good and made it really, really lame. They’ve decided to capitalize on the current paranormal explosion by creating what sounds like the latest reality tv bomb, Hot Girls in Scary Places. Can’t wait for Babes and Banshees!

Paranormal Activity the Movie [Evidence of a Haunting]

paranormal_activity_the_movie

I’ve been waiting for over a year now for this low-budget indie movie to move out of the festival circuit and get some commercial screen time or at least be released to video. But when it comes to getting a status update, we’re still in the dark. And now that Dreamworks has acquired the project and is putting big bucks behind a remake I feel like the project is deteriorating like a post-Halloween pumpkin. My money says Spielberg will be screwing up the flick with sappy special effects.
