Lost: Episode 5: This Place is Death

Well Jin was right the elusive smoke monster is back and does it have a chip on it’s shoulder. Episode 5: This Place is Death has to be one of the best episodes I’ve seen in a long time.

It begins with Jin washing up back on the island only to be rescued by a young Danielle Rousseau in the year 1988. Before they even set 10 steps into the jungle a chase begins with the smoke monster slithering through the brush and kicking up trees. Smokey snatches one of the Rousseau party and drags him off into what looks like a Mayan or Aztec temple. I feel another storyline developing here folks. A game of human “Tug of War” ensues and Mr. French victim loses an arm and disappears below the temple. Fast forward, flash forward, some sort of time slip, and now it’s a few days later and Jin witnesses Rousseau using the father of her child for target practice. It seems as though the smoke monster has got some sort of possession thing going on. And this is only the first five minutes.

With a bunch of nose bleeds, time slips, and other cool Lost connections, this episode really is jam packed with good stuff. So good, that I forgot how they got away without explaining the smoke monster again. AAAAAARRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHH. Oh well, maybe next season. Enjoy. [watch the episode 5]
