Don’t Fouke with the Fouke Monster!

I just came across the comment that Sir “Mister Wildlife” David Attenborough made on some British talk show the other night stating that, “I’m baffled by the Abominable Snowman – very convincing footprints have been found at 19,000ft.” This immediately brought back memories of the old In Search Of Episodes where I saw the famed Patterson Bigfoot film for the first time. Which got me thinking that we really haven’t gone down the crypto path here at Paranormal SPY. So I went in search of something new today and boy did I come up big. And no, it’s not some semi-frozen refrigerator Bigfoot, it’s the Fouke Monster.
The Fouke monster is a semi-like-Bigfoot-monster-thing with just a hair of wookie thrown in, that’s been seen around Fouke, Arkansas. The estimated height was seven feet, weighing in at a possible 300 pounds. It supposedly attacked a family back in the ’70s as well as ran off with some livestock. The most recent sighting was back in 1998.
But what I found really interesting were all the close encounters the locals had with the Fouke. This thing didn’t run off like most Bigfoot stories you hear about.
There were so many accounts that a local ad salesman, Charles B. Pierce, borrowed some cash and made a movie about them. The film The Legend of Boggy Creek, is shot documentary style and used actual locals to tell their stories. And the best part is that you can go and watch it over on YouTube. Now this is the ’70s, so if you can get by the hokey music, and damn it’s bad, I think you’ll dig it. Makes me kind of want to get my OshKosh’s on and get a dutch boy haircut.
